Re: POSTAL COMPETITIONS - 9 years ago
I've never been asked to add a section for it, I guess it's because they might be difficult to get hold of, I'll ask next meeting.by ukinet - UK Forum
Re: Quiz - 9 years ago
Hmm, the problem with this is the quiz and some other of our comps allow daily entries, if I were to log it then it would appear as logged tomorrow too, so not sure if this is workable, maybe it is, I'll have a think. I take it you'd like it to appear with a line through if you'd entered it for the day?by ukinet - Suggestions
Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
I know the problems and it will be fixed as soon as I get some time, had a rough few weeks where spare time is concerned. Pretty much only the quick link will award points, I need to move this into the comp details page, I might even do it tonight. Sorry.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Ladder points and coins - 9 years ago
OK, what I'm going to do is strip all the code and start again. So Saturday will see the ladder not working except for our comps. I'm not sure why as it looks like it should and it's working fine for me, it's been a long couple of weeks so I guess I messed up big time somewhere and I'm too much tunnel vision to see why. Ladder points and coins - 9 years ago
I have made some more changes to the way ladder points and coins are awarded. At the moment, only the small quick link icon on the list page will award coins and points. Entering the competition from the competition page doesn't at the moment but will soon. You are awarded points for entering competitions, therefore clicking the green tick to log the comp or clicking the red X will noby ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
Just to say that I personally don't add comps, if I stopped doing any work on the site it wouldn't increase the amount of comps added. Also, what happened last week before I had to stop updates was to make it so you could properly flag comps as ignored or entered, this stopped the ladder operating correctly. At the moment you get ladder points and coins if you use the quick link bby ukinet - General Competition Chat

Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
Well, she's home now and ordering me about so all is good. Now I took a 'quick' look at the ladder and it was working for me. Can someone give me an exact description of what they are doing when it doesn't work, or if it works at all? Thanks.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Private Messages - 9 years ago
Private message are private messages, not support emails. I don't check them often at all, and probably wont.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Achievements - 9 years ago
The late ones should work, I'll check. the winner ones are added manually when we draw them, I'll check as I don't do that bit.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Again, something new. - 9 years ago
You can access the emails from the email tab. Granted they aren't formatted brilliant at the moment, it's something I know I need to correct, but you should still be able to see the confirmation link in the email.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
Probably my fault. I made a change 'again' last weekend to plug a hole but may have messed things up. Then I had to take my partner to the hospital and I've been there with her all week, she had to have an operation yesterday and I've just not had the chance to even check things. After the operation was a huge improvement so I'm a little more interested in doing soby ukinet - General Competition Chat

Re: recent competition errors & problems - 9 years ago
Hi, As mentioned above. A. Is just up to the organiser really, we have no control, just report it and we'll remove it. B. I'll have to raise this, again report it. C. Again I'll raise this but it may be out of our control if the organiser changes their web site after submitting the comp. D. This is most probably a lack of the form designers fore thought. Re: Treasure Hunt - 9 years ago
The form is already there, on the 'Found a Token' link More hunts are being planned, we may or may not do more clues for the first hunt as it's already solvable.by ukinet - Suggestions
Re: Very big change - 9 years ago
I'm going to make some changes over the weekend. Once done it will be 100% on the new system and hopefully no problems. you'll be able to see logged and ignored, plus change the state of your logging, so if you ignored it you can change it to logged. While this is happening things might not add up right for points. I'll be quick. I hope.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Very big change - 9 years ago
I have put the old strike through back, you should all see it as before now. I'll think about how to tell the difference between ignored and logged.by ukinet - General Competition Chat

Re: Very big change - 9 years ago
What browser and version are you running? I had to make a change in the way the strike through line was shown so you can tell the difference between logged and ignored comps, I have a feeling some users aren't using browsers that are compatible with this code.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
I see, it's something that got knocked out as I'm moving over to the new logging system, I'll probably fix it tomorrow.by ukinet - General Competition Chat

Logging - 9 years ago
I have just put into place the new logging system. You can log and ignore again. Use the quick entry or the green tick to log, use the red x to ignore. To tell the difference I have made the line through a different colour for each. It's only active on the main lists at the moment, just incase it messes up. I'm not sure about the colours to be honest, let me know what you thiby ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Is this a concern? - 9 years ago
Where did you read this? While it's possible to see where a person has come from, most of the time (a few browsers now don't present referral data), do you really think a competition organiser would operate such a practice? Also, when companies run a competition where do they think the visitors are going to come from? Personally I would take this information with a pinch of salby ukinet - Suggestions

Re: Competitors Companion Word Search - June week 3 - 9 years ago
OK, I guess it's a bit tricky, I don't ,make them myself, I'll remind the creator. For now I guess if you submit at least one right answer it'll be counted.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: New feature coming soon! - 9 years ago
I understand yes you'll be able to sort and filter all sorts, I'm still collecting the data as previously we were deleteing the competition info aftwer in expired but now were keeping all for at least 6 months. Once we have some meaningful data (and I'm back from holiday) I'll make it a bit better.by ukinet - General Competition Chat
Re: Dead link reports - 9 years ago
Those numbers are just internal ID's we won't usually reply to these reports just act on them. But lately we're getting a lot of false reports, either the comp is just on the page somewhere and people aren't looking hard enough or some other reason like the capcha not working, if you can;t get the capcha to work it doesn;t mean it's a faulty competition, most probablyby ukinet - Suggestions
