Re: How many competitions do you enter? - 9 years ago
Kauritree You're probably doing nothing wrong but I admire your stamina. I recently entered a competition for a one night hotel stay to which there were over 12,000 entries - I didn't win - but it gives you some idea of the odds against you. Take a look at the type of competition you're entering. Look out for local competitions and those that need a little more effort thaby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: 3 wins!!! - 9 years ago
Aldonza, congratulations, great news! Strange how they come in batches isn't it, I've noticed that before. Hopefully it'll be a long winning streak for you.by kevincharley - UK Forum
Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
So, what are you doing with all that spare time now you've quit the 'Riddle Race'? Personally I'm managing to once more get on top of the competitions instead of scrambling to keep up with the ones ending in the next 24 hours. Quite liberating!by kevincharley - UK Forum
Re: Sixtyplusurfers Competition - 9 years ago
Pippin, if you look back in the Forum postings I logged a post headed 'Incorrect Answers', letting people know that a particular competition had been credited with an incorrect answer and supplying the correct one. You replied saying that you also had recently seen an incorrect answer so this isn't the first you've noticed in 3 years. Lizziejayne also commented that she'by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Sixtyplusurfers Competition - 9 years ago
But would we know? I've just seen the question 'What is Sarah Taylor's highest ODI score?'. I don't even know what ODI stands for (the answer given seemed to be correct). I've seen one or two in the past but I don't check everything, they were blatant ones rather like the Dustin Hoffman one Pippin noticed.by kevincharley - General Competition Chat

Re: Link not Working button - 9 years ago
miketerry I saw 3 in as many days over the weekend. Judging by my place on the 'leaderboard' I am way behind a lot of you so why, if the 'link not working' button is being used, am I still finding them? It's not always that the competition has closed early (although occasionally this has been the case therefore nobody to blame but myself) as I can still find it by goingby kevincharley - Suggestions
Contact! - 9 years ago
To those of you who have reported a lack of response, please see below an email received a little while ago after I'd emailed asking what was happening to all the comments and suggestions on the Forum. 'We try to respond to all emails withing 24 hours but sometimes it may take longer. If there has been no reply then there's a good chance we never received the email. Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
Roly, nope, not a whisper. I've been locked out all day today so it looks like I have been sacked before I got chance to resign. I'm wondering if our contact, ukinet, has had to take time out for personal reasons - remember his partner was ill last year? I really hope that isn't the reason for his sake. However, if that's the case you'd have thought someone couldby kevincharley - UK Forum
Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
I found 9. To all taking part, don't bother guessing Anna Neagle or Mary Martin, they've been ruled out. I'm sticking it out for the remainder of the month then I'm going 'cold turkey'!by kevincharley - UK Forum
Re: Site revamp required - 9 years ago
Nice one Kris E! Den, a couple of years ago I contacted them by phone and, yes, spoke to Phillips Accountants. The cheque turned up a few days later so I believe your message will be passed on. It's the accountants who issue the cheques so you've contacted the right people.by kevincharley - Suggestions
Re: Link not Working button - 9 years ago
Kazbeth, I agree totally, I commented about this a while back. If you use the 'new' competition link it strikes through, but if you use the old method of 'Click here to enter' you have control, the competition isn't crossed through until you hit the 'Complog Click This Button'. I couldn't (and still can't) see the benefit of the quick link, but I wasby kevincharley - Suggestions
Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
Thanks Roly. I agree, boring & time consuming but because it's there you're compelled to take part. I've recently managed to wean myself off compulsively following the leader board and have reverted to the old method of recording competitions I've entered. (I still favour this method - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.)by kevincharley - UK Forum

Would someone let me know who the actress - - - - - - - A - - - was, please? I completely missed out on the Hamburg riddle, my screen has been showing the letters for the actress and I didn't notice the wording had changed.by kevincharley - UK Forum

Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
Well done to Joe guessing Out of Africa but this poses another question: why, if his was the first correct answer, did it take so long for it to be posted as a 'win'? My guess of Out of Africa was posted not long after the riddle was posted, well over a day before Joe's win was announced. I guess this makes up for the win I was credited with last month but is no less frustrating.by kevincharley - UK Forum

Re: Winners list on Site not updated - 9 years ago
Yvonne, I couldn't agree more. It's the 'extras' that are the cause of so many grumbles and, probably, because there is more time being spent on extras the core of the business suffers.by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Winners list on Site not updated - 9 years ago
Hi Yvonne. I know exactly what you mean, but if something is offered, no matter whether it's £10 or £100, then surely we should expect whatever is offered to work smoothly. If, for instance, the Winners List was removed I personally wouldn't miss it, but it is there so surely it should be kept up to date. Shouldn't it? People may disagree with me and that's fine, just puttingby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Winners list on Site not updated - 9 years ago
I've recently had emails from April at support@competitorscompanion.com when I've reported problems via the Report a problem with this competition link. Now I haven't had a reply to my recent mail (concerning the riddle race) but some of you might want to put forward your concerns to April and, hopefully, she may be able to address some of the problems we are experiencing.by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Is our Hobby getting Better or worse - 9 years ago
I think the internet has spoiled it somewhat. Yes, there are more competitions to enter but there are more people with access to them so the chances of winning are probably less. I know that when it was all postal entries my ratio of wins to entries was far better than it is now. But on the plus side it's an awful lot cheaper to enter multiple competitions now than it was before - just farby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
Roly, no, I didn't expect a reply but I certainly hoped. I think they're referring to the Agatha Christie novel, 1976. Goose, I think you're seeing the same as the rest of us. Hardly a 'riddle', more a guessing game which is strangely addictive, very time consuming and very annoying! If there is some further clues/method/system I am unaware of it, thus I have only gby kevincharley - UK Forum
Riddle Race - 9 years ago
Today I was announced as the latest to solve the 'riddle' of 'Two Lovers'. Great! Except my guess was 'One Chance'. Now I could keep quiet, accept the success and revel in my triumph. But it would be dishonest, and I'm not dishonest. So, if anyone is monitoring these posts, please sort it out. Thanks.by kevincharley - UK Forum
Re: Winners list on Site not updated - 9 years ago
Perhaps other people enter via other routes. It's a fact that competitions that require something other than completing your name and address on a web page attract fewer entrants. I don't just enter via the links supplied on C.C. although I admit that most of my entries are online. My biggest win (believe me if you wish, or not, it's your prerogative) was £9,000 cash via a postcaby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: 500 comps/3,000 entries per week - anyone do more ? - 9 years ago
I wish I had the time to do more. Between working (only part time), walking the dog, trying (and, in the main, failing) to keep the house & garden looking respectable I don't have enough hours in the day. I suppose I could always stop blathering on here... that'd give me more time!by kevincharley - UK Forum
