Enter our May Where in the World contest and win £30 ! - Tuesday's question

Closes on 19th of May 2026

You could win a £30 cash prize in our May Where in the World contest.

We will be asking you to name different locations in the world each day between now and the end of the month.

We provide a picture clue which might be cryptic in addition to the written clues.

At the end of each day's contest we will pick the winner from all correct answers received and so the winner is not necessarily the first entrant with the answer. The overall winner of the £30 cash prize at the end of the competition will be the person who has the most individual wins and in the event of a tie a draw will be held to determine the winner of the £30 cash prize.

We will give you regular updates of the daily contest winners so you can see who is leading the competition.

Only one entry per day is allowed, otherwise your entry will not count.

May contest standings

Geoffrey Hooley was the first out of the hat with Sunday's answer of Redditch. Sally Crawley, Philip Bennett and Valerie Horsewell are our current joint leaders with two wins. Chris Cooper, Geoffrey Hooley, Lesley Davenport, Peter Watson, Lynn Dibb, Mike Potter, Elaine Hardy, Tim Glister, Mark Welsby, Elaine Oliver and Ena Dutton have one win.

April contest winner

Well done to Linda Mansfield who, after a tie, was drawn as the overall winner of the April contest and wins £30.

Question:
This town, which has a connection with the picture, has a lifeboat station that was established in the 1960s whose crews have received three awards for gallantry. Visitors to the town might be interested in an attraction dating from the 16th century that no doubt would have caught the eye of the McWhirter twins. If you need to quench your thirst you could visit a pub that is a previous winner of the country's pub of the year award by CAMRA. Baggies fans are sure to feel at home here. What is the name of the town ?
