Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
Hey, come on Roly, that's a bit rich when it was you who threw down the gauntlet as regards to winning the ladder race! 'at the 11th hour on New Year's Eve I've taken the leader to task as to who will come out on top when The Ladder is reset. Who's the betting on . . .' Do I detect a few sour grapes? I'm sure you'll come back with an acerbic reply, as yoby kevincharley - General Competition Chat

Well, if we're requesting the prizes we want to win I could do with a new kitchen and a holiday to New Zealand, so if you could just rustle that up, please?by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: CC e mail service - 9 years ago
John After reading your message I think I'm glad I avoided it! I decided that I had enough on my plate as I'd just amended my email address and was already trying to juggle 2 mail boxes.by kevincharley - General Competition Chat

I'm curious to know if anyone uses the CC email feature that was introduced a while ago and, if so, do you recommend it?by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Well done - 9 years ago
Well Mr B, that's me told. Of course you are quite correct in your observation that I'm reading but not taking in the information. You do like stirring the pot, don't you? Keep it up!by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Well done - 9 years ago
Having just received a cheque from CC this morning (thank you CC) I'm guessing you meant me. Not a bad way to start the year. So how did you know? Or are you going to be enigmatic about it (like you have previously when you found a loophole that accumulated more ladder points). And, if you found the winner of the Crossword, who won the Word Search?by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Riddle Race - 9 years ago
I too was looking for a riddle, thinking I was missing an instruction I must have read the page a dozen times. I agree, more like hangman, or simply a guessing game.by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Rebus - 9 years ago
I'm admitting publicly that I'm totally stumped with the latest Rebus puzzle. Is anyone else struggling? Or am I just being totally thick and missing the obvious?by kevincharley - General Competition Chat

Re: How many competitions do you enter? - 9 years ago
I enter the majority of competitions on C.C. and probably the same amount again via other routes. I go through phases of winning a prize a week for a month or so then have a dry phase where I win nothing, become disillusioned and threaten to stop entering - I only ever get as far as threatening, I'm totally hooked, (I admit to being somewhat obsessed!). I've asked several of the compeby kevincharley - General Competition Chat

Re: LINKS - 9 years ago
As another one I've turned up is for the same prize but this time listed with Shortlist and both Shortlist and Stylist are produced through the same publisher it looks like there's a connection. Leading on from this, could anyone tell me whether an entry via both magazines for the same prize constitutes a breach of T&Cs? It happens a lot when a company hires a publicist and simiby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
LINKS - 9 years ago
I've noticed that there are competitions listed where the link is 'broken' if the original method of entry preferred by some is used but working fine if the 'quick link' is used. Example: Closing today, Stylist Magazine, OTHER shop voucher. I couldn't use the 'report an error with this competition' link as by the original method the competition link was &by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: 'Our Competitions' - 9 years ago
Ukinet, your earlier post (May 12) said you'd 'add it to the list'. I took this to mean that you would look into the problem. If it's not down to you, perhaps you could forward the query to the person who is responsible? You seem to be our only contact and I'm sorry if it appears that you're taking the flack for things that are going wrong. If there is another coby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: 'Our Competitions' - 9 years ago
I was at least trying to use a little tact and to keep my post light, it looks like I may not have succeeded. However, I don't think threatening to go elsewhere will really bring about a positive outcome regarding our suggestions/feedback. If the boot was on the other foot I think any suggestions made would have gone straight to the bottom of the 'to do' pile. And as for winning aby kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: 'Our Competitions' - 9 years ago
Is this any nearer the top your list? On Saturday I logged on around 6.30pm and there was no Star Shaker listed. Later, around 8-8.30pm it appeared, but it was clear that I'd totally missed the original Saturday post. Now, I appreciate that it's 'manulally' (sic) added, but 6.30pm? I know, it's not the end of the world, but after all the 'other stuff' (I'by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Ladder points and coins - 9 years ago
Having played about with the various options for a few days I find the old system of 'click here to enter' and 'Click if you want us to strike this competition from your list.' far better in every way but one - it doesn't add coins or ladder points (as far as I can see) Quick Link no Log = Quick link no log. - Log Comp = Log Comp. - Comp Ignore = Ignore Comp. Re: Ladder points and coins - 9 years ago
Like many others I wasn't accruing points or coins but sometime during yesterday afternoon/evening everything suddenly burst into life again. Now I know I haven't changed any settings so something has been tweaked. I don't know what, nor do I really care. I just hope that everyone else has found the same and all this can now be put to bed and we can get the competitions listings sby kevincharley - General Competition Chat

Re: Ladder - 9 years ago
If the ladder is scrapped, what will we find to post about? This is post no 158, the highest number of posts for any subject, by a long way. Seriously folks, we need to find something else to obsess over!by kevincharley - General Competition Chat
Re: Quiz - 9 years ago
Miketerry, I agree wholeheartedly but I believe the technical wizardry is dealt with by somebody different to who lists the competitions. (I think this was mentioned in a previous post by ukinet) If this is the case then one shouldn't affect the other. Also, I don't know how big a job this would be. If it's a massive rewriting of the programme then no, it's not worth it.by kevincharley - Suggestions
Quiz - 9 years ago
Would there be a possibility of having a similar logging system for the quiz as there is for all other competitions? I used to keep a separate, manual log but I've become lazy/don't have enough hours in a day. But now I have to go through each question on the last day to make sure I've answered them all (so it would probably be quicker to go back to keeping a manual record!).by kevincharley - Suggestions
